Hi everyone, so I'm currently 17 and really want to start hormones as soon as possible but don't really want to see a doctor and let my parents know about it yet until there are noticeable changes with my body. My main question is where am I able to buy hormones from and what ones should I get? I live in Australia which isn't too keen on the MtF thing so I'd much rather buy online. Thanks.

I'm not experienced, but I've heard self medding is not the way to go, and since you are underage, there is probably no way to get them without your parents consent.

First off, I'm going to advise you to learn more from a doctor or someone more experienced in the matters of HRT. Assuming you have or will do so the first thing you need to know about drug hormone replacement is it's essentially a one time deal, you need to be sure about what you're doing because you can't stop halfway and say "Whoops, turns out this isn't for me after all". When you start you're on the track for good for the most part. Onto the drugs, the two you need to know about are estrogens and anti-testosterones (anti-androgens). You can't just start taking estrogen without first ridding your body of testosterone because as a body hormone, T overpowers E which nullifes the effects of the estrogen drug and just makes you feel shitty, you need to go on an anti-androgen regimen for maybe a week or two, or even three before you start taking estrogens, and then you need to learn the appropriate dosing for these medications. Just so you know, through your transformation you'll experience a lot of bodily changes like body hair loss, decreased libido, decreased energy, breast growth (which can be very uncomfortable) and an overall different mindset, one of more feminine nature.

You should be able to buy what you need here, even in AUS

Although you'll need to find out what exactly you need for yourself. I'm not by any means an expert on this matter but I've had many friends that I've helped guide through the HRT process and for the most part they are happier then they ever were beforehand and would tell you it was completely worth it.

Actually, it is fairly reversible up to at least six months. There will be no significant changes that are irreversible.

Now after that you have to deal with infertility and tits, but thats about it if that doesn't bother you. You can still reverse and return mostly to normal.

Does anyone know what dose I should get? There's a 100mg dose and a 25mg dose on inhousepharmacy. Is taking the 25mg dose safer because it's a smaller dose?

No.9948 : januarygirl [13/03/24(Sun)09:13] [Report] []

@Chloe

If you are considering self-medicating on spironolactone, then I recommend buying the 25 mg tablets first. Increase your dosage gradually; for instance, start 25mg for the first 2 weeks, 50 mg for the next fortnight and so on, until you reach a dosage of 100-200mg.

The maximum dosage of spiro that is recommended by various gender clinics and medical professionals (who are mainly based in Canada and USA) is 200mg. I would suggest that you continue with a dose of 100mg first to see if there are any physical changes.

I heard that for people who doubt if they are trans, it can worth to do a HRT trial, because a male brain will not bear to work with female hormone.
I plan to do a 2 months trial, an anti-androgen (spiro) is enough or should I also try with estrogen (estrofem)?

Totally true,

But i would suggest first delving into finasteride or dutasteride, before heading off to spiro or cypero,

The choice of estrogen supplement lies with you:

here are the pros and con: might create emotional changes sometimes. So depending on social situation you might accept it or decide to go against .

personal choice: I would take a low dosage of estrogen along with,

Thanks for your answer. Why do you advise finasteride or dutasteride?
The thing is I already bought spiro; I have some ups and downs - but I think 'depression' is a word too strong of what I experience, during the 'ups' I'm fine to be a guy (but definitely not a manly one) while on the 'downs' I'm not sure of what I really want.
I made a list with the pros and cons (helped me a little bit, but not enough to find an answer), so I hope the trial will help to do the right decision for me.

Finasteride and Dutasteride, mainly lower your libido and prevents hairfall and they are not as intense as spiro or cypero. But if you decided to fall back (as in not want to transition) then the effect of finasteride and dutasteride wither away faster than spiro or cypero. and hence i suggest to first experience with finasterides.

NO

don't listen to them

fin and du are HAIR LOSS pills. they don't affect your T

they decrease your DHT
DHT is a form of T that gets produced when u fap, it only causes balding

find and du have NO EFFECT on T

grow some balls, start with spiro/cypro

start with normal dosage, anything like "25 mgr lel" won't be even noticed by your body
don't believe that "male brain no female whoremoans D:" bs because it's bs and there is NO EVIDENCE for something like that

> don't believe that "male brain no female whoremoans D:" bs because it's bs and there is NO EVIDENCE for something like that

you do realise almost all the blockers including fin/du, cypero and even the best bicalutamide penetrates the blood-brain-barrier and binds with the androgen receptors there, right?

and you do realise this penetration kind of causes a sort of negative feedback to increase T (in case of certain class of blockers, like cyperoterone without it's acetate group).

moral of the story: your blockers will work their way into your brain chemistry, if you are on hrt remember they will work on your brains

There's a recommended dosage somewhere. Start with that and use that. They size pills in various sizes because hormones treat various different things (like menopause, for example). Their size is not for your convenience. Find a dosage and take whatever size/amount of pill you need to get that dosage.

As far as where to look that info up, some of the transgender sights have suggested dosages, or dosages people take. Do what they do.

Also get some blood tests. One after the first week, then month maybe. If you can. Otherwise, keep an eye out for changes in your metabolism and whatnot. Hormones can harm your liver.

so what? what does it have to do with my point?

you should always take an estrogen along with an anti androgen.. it might be kind of dangerous to take AA's alone because now you have NO hormones, T or E going in your body which can lead to a loss in bone density among other things..

and for the OP: a typical starting regimen for hormones is 2mg of an estrogen and 100mg of an anti androgen, then raised depending on the results of a blood test for T, E, and FSH. lower starting dosages than that are usually considered conservative

I've heard some bad stuff about ordering drugs online, is that site safe?

don't take anti androgens (ie spiro) on their own, your body can NOT survive without a sex hormone (estrogen or testosterone)

places like inhousepharmacy, alldaychemist, and QHI are alright - do your research beforehand, google is your friend

>I heard that for people who doubt if they are trans, it can worth to do a HRT trial, because a male brain will not bear to work with female hormone.

O_o

All males produce estrogen.

All females produce testosterone.

God, anyone who takes medical advice from this board, aside from "I think you should see a doctor," deserves to die.

Totally feel your pain, op.

100-200mg/day spiro is good. Drink more water when you're on it, as it makes you pee. Eventually see a doctor, you can get hyperkalemia from this, and that's bad news for your ticker.

5mg finasteride is a good dose too. It blocks conversion of T to DHT which is a STRONGER MASCULINIZING HORMONE. DHT also does indeed cause baldness

Dont take more than 2-4mg of E(estrofem) per day. But you NEED to be on it if you're taking spiro.

Progesterone is a waste of time. It downregulates estrogen receptors

Inhouse is legit, or at least it was 6 years ago.

Source: Trans, started on inhouse. Now I'm in med school
you're not alone alot of us have been in your shoes op

is 5mg Finasteride a dose anywhere near 100mg spiro? Not transitioning, just want to be more feminine and I was looking into a weakish Antiandrogen with no E.
