Just make sure you take your time with it, don't force it in. Try and relax your hole as much as possible, it'll tighten up at first but relax and you'll be fine. Just ramming it in there is very bad, anal fissures are not nice.

My tips would be to make sure the room is really warm, the dildo or plug is warm (run it under some hot water), and use lots of lube. Take it slow until your hole is very warmed up.
Another thing that helps is sniffing poppers (i.e. Rush. Amyl nitrite). But not everyone is into that. :)
