So girls, I did a little experimenting today ;)
I buy those cheap wigs you find on ebay sold by chinese shops. So the quality is not so great, but they are cheap, synthetic wigs. They get frizzy easily, so I'm always looking for ways to manage them. I found an article online that said it may be possible to heat treat synthetic wigs if you keep the heat low enough. I decided to try something out on one of my old wigs that has gone through a lot (heavily brushed, dipped in boiling water, etc.)
I ironed my wig. Not with a hair iron, but with a clothes iron. I set the knob to polyester (no steam, a little under half of what the iron can do). It took less than an hour. I did it in sections like you would if you were (hair) ironing your hair though it's much easier and more comfortable with a wig, in front of you, on an ironing board.
The results are amazing! I didn't use any product, but the wig is like new. The hair is shiny and the frizz is significantly down (to realistic levels).
Just wanted to share. Maybe I'll post some pics soon with my "new" wig ;)
